Why Your Phone Battery Dies So Fast — And How to Fix It
The Battery Problem Everyone Has
You wake up with a full charge, and by lunchtime your phone is begging for the charger. This is one of the most common complaints among smartphone users in Pakistan. The good news is that most battery drain issues are caused by a few fixable habits.
Brightness Is the Biggest Culprit
Most people keep their screen brightness on auto or near maximum. Reducing brightness to 40-50% and turning off auto-brightness can add 2-3 hours to your battery life. On Samsung phones, using the "Adaptive Battery" feature helps a lot.
Background Apps
Every app running in the background uses battery. Social media apps like Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok are particularly aggressive. Go to your phone settings and restrict background activity for apps you do not need running constantly. On Android, go to Settings > Battery > Background Usage Limits.
Location Services
If GPS is enabled for all apps, your battery drains much faster. Set location access to "While Using" instead of "Always" for each app. Most apps do not need your location when you are not actively using them.
Battery Health
If your phone is more than two years old, the battery may have degraded. You can check battery health on iPhone (Settings > Battery > Battery Health) or use third-party apps on Android. If the maximum capacity is below 80%, consider a battery replacement — it is usually cheaper than buying a new phone.
Selling Your Old Phone?
If battery problems are making you want a new phone, check OEADS for used phones in good condition. Many sellers list phones with 90%+ battery health at reasonable prices.
